More Prince

Still bummed about Prince.

Back in 2009 SPIN Magazine put out a compilation of modern artists covering the Purple Rain album to commemorate its 25th anniversary.

The artists include Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, of Montreal, Riverboat Gamblers, etc. It’s an odd mix of artists and it seems only fitting that it be posted again. It seems unfair to offer up any sort of critique of these interpretations. I’ve got my favorites and some are…uhh, interesting, but all are genuine and honest which was always at the heart of Prince’s music. I also have to believe that given the litigious nature of Prince, that he had signed off on all of these.

The album is complete EXCEPT for I Would Die 4 U, which is posted just after the Soundcloud Playlist. Soundcloud wouldn’t let me post that song for copyright reasons (which seems odd because the rest of the album was posted without issue).

I’m not entirely sure of the legality of this, so it may get taken down…or it may not.
Hopefully it won’t.
